Till Death Impart Us Wisdom

It is better to go to the house of mourning
than to go to the house of feasting,
for this is the end of all mankind,
and the living will lay it to heart.

—Ecclesiastes 7:2

So teach us to number our days
that we may get a heart of wisdom.

—Psalm 90:12

Oh that we would all pay heed our inevitable end and thus turn to the only one who has beat death at her own game, the God-man Christ Jesus.

Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesusbefore the ages began, and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel…

—2 Timothy 1:8–10
